Owning pets does not automatically mean your ducts need cleaning. The condition inside the ductwork is a better guide.
Professional air duct cleaning can help when there is substantial visible buildup, debris coming from registers, persistent contamination inside the ducts, or heavy dust remaining after remodeling.
Homes with heavy-shedding or multiple pets can also accumulate more material, making it worth checking the ductwork when other signs of buildup are present.

How Regular Deep Cleaning Can Help as Well
Removing pet-related material before it becomes airborne helps reduce the amount that reaches your HVAC system. Vacuum floors, rugs, and upholstery frequently with a HEPA-filter vacuum, and use microfiber cloths to collect dust instead of pushing it back into the air.
Groom pets regularly, wash their bedding, and keep litter boxes, cages, and feeding areas clean. Wipe down vents and registers when dust or hair collects on them. Removing shoes at the door can also reduce the pollen and dirt tracked indoors.
